Identifying Forums
In many of your courses, you will be expected to dialog with your fellow students and instructors using forums on a regular basis.  You can identify a forum in your course by the following icon:

The following video will help prepare you to post and reply in forums in your courses.  At the bottom of this solution you will find a downloadable PDF of the video script.

 

 

 

INSTRUCTIONS: Forums

  1. To enter a forum, click on the forum link on the course main page.
  2. To start a new discussion:
    1. Click Add a new discussion topic.
    2. Type a subject line and fill in your message in the message window.
    3. Click Post to forum.
    4. You will now have a 30-minute time period in which to make any edits, should you find a mistake.
  3. To reply to another post:
    1. Identify the post that you would like to respond to and click Reply.
    2. Type a subject line and fill in your message in the message window.
    3. Click Post to forum.
    4. You will now have a 30-minute time period in which to make any edits, should you find a mistake.
 
Challenge: Contribute to a Forum
Now that you have learned how to post and reply in a forum, it is time for you to practice this skill.  Head over to the forum in the Moodle Sandbox and start a new discussion topic.  Then post a reply to another student's post in another discussion.
