RELS 1085 Survey of The Summit Lighthouse

This course is designed to give you an overview of the history, philosophy and mission of The Summit Lighthouse. You will explore the lives and offices of the founders, Mark L. Prophet and Elizabeth Clare Prophet, and analyze how they have set the stage for its deeply spiritual nature and mystery-school environment. You will gain insight in how spiritual sponsorship is foundational to the mission, vision, operations of this organization. You’ll review its financial structure, its various branches and levels of membership and the intricate relationship between The Summit Lighthouse and Church Universal and Triumphant, and will learn how this complex worldwide organization is governed at the headquarters and local levels.

Upon completion of this course you will confidently be able to answer the question, “What is The Summit Lighthouse?”

Students will participate in forums discussions, submit papers and take quizzes.

Hours per week: Students should plan to set aside 5–6 hours per week to complete their weekly course work. This course consists of eight units and students are expected to complete one unit per week.
